It’s certainly been a busy time around the club since the AGM and I want to thank you all for your ongoing support. The Board also thanks John Norris and Ken Damm for their service and significant contribution and welcomes Eddie James to the Board.
We will provide a first half trading update in the New Year but the club certainly has capacity for new members, weddings, functions and events so please be sure to recommend Portsea golf Club as this will benefit all members.
The recent opening of the half-way house has been well received by members and guests and again I thank all those companies and individuals who made it possible through generous donations. As one member said to me just recently “it looks like it’s been there for years”.
We will be inducting new members in the coming weeks that have been given their memberships as Christmas gifts. Some of these members are new to golf so please make them welcome.
I would like to thank all those members who participated in the recent club championships and congratulate winners across all divisions. Presentation night was a great event recognising these achievements.
I was also fortunate recently to spend some quality time with our long standing members all of whom have made significant contributions to the culture and fabric of the Portsea Golf Club in many varied roles. I was overwhelmed to be in a room that collectively had over 800 years of membership and 25 years of club championship winners. Great experience and a history lesson for me.
We are conducting a celebrity open day on January 21st 2018 and this is a great opportunity to showcase our amazing course and facility. It is an exciting initiative and one which we believe will deliver great value to the club. We are calling out for volunteers to assist on the day so if you have some spare time to support your club we would certainly appreciate it.
Unfortunately Greg Cusack is leaving us at the end of the year and I know you will join me in thanking him for all he has done for members and wishing him all the success for the future. He will be sorely missed by all.
Finally I would like to take this opportunity to wish all staff and members a Merry Christmas and safe New Year. See you on the course.
