Vale – David “Soapy” Opie
On behalf of the board, staff and members of the club, we were saddened to learn of the passing of David Opie earlier today.
David “Soapy” Opie was a 25 year member of the Portsea Golf Club who made an immediate impact to all he shared time with both on and off the course. David was well known for his entertaining presentation of the Thursday golf results and our “chooks” will never be “chucked” the same again. Recently, the board named the Thursday Annual medal winner in David’s honour, the “David “Soapy” Opie Medal”. At 64 years young, he was taken from us far too soon.
David is survived by Kate, Emily and Tom and our deepest thoughts are with them as they mourn David’s passing.
